NEW FACTORY IN CITY.
CANNING AND PRESERVING. An interesting feature in connection with Auckland's expansion as an industrial centre is the number of buildings which aro being erected, 'or for which plans are being prepared, for Southern firms. Among tha former is 'a large canning and preserving factory for Messrs. Irvine and Stevenson, of Dunedin, which is now ncaring completion in Hepburn Street. For many years, the southern city j has been - the \ firm's distributing centre, but they have now opened an Auckland branch in order to avail themselves of : shipping facilities for a large Island trade. The onilding, which will cost, about £9000 lis ? being erected on the latest and most commodious lines and- will contain 14,000 square feet of floor space. Mr. E. Rupert Morton is the architect, and J. J. Reardon and Sons the builders.
