FIRE AT WAIMARIE.
GENERAL STORE DESTROYED. A small -. general store at Waimarie, owned by Mr. R. J;; Callaux, was destroyed by ; fire about two i o'clock >on Monday morning. The alarm was given by Mr. Callaux's children, who occupied a room facing the shop, which'' was 15yds; distant, but the fire then., had a firm hold, and all efforts to save either the building or contents proved fruitless. Though both were insured the owner, who took the store over last September, is a heavy loser. The origin of the fire is not known.
