THE SALVATION ARMY.
CHILDREN'S DEMONSTRATION; The annual children's demonstration under the auspices of the Salvation Army, was given in the Town Hall concert chamber last evening. The hall was filled to its capacity, and the entertainment proved to be thoroughly enjoyable. The young performers displayed evidence of careful training and preparation, and encores -were received for all tKe items. The programme consisted of action songs and exhibitions of physical drill by the Grange girls, and songs and tableaux by the children from the Salvation Army branches of the city, Newmarket, Otahuhu, Newton and Devonport. The individual items included recitations by Phyllis flounce, Edith Moore and Grace Heaps, and songs by Eva Stone, Some instrumental selections were . given by the Boy Scouts' band. Commissioner It. Hoggard presided.
