Mr. A. Henderson, of Auckland, with a number j of his employees, has been engaged salj vaging the vessel since Thursday. The ! operation has proved a greater task than I was expected, owing to the soft naturb !of the beach. The scow's coal cargo had to be discharged and the vessel lifted four ; feet out of the sand into which she had ; sunk.
