WATER FOR NORTH SHORE.
POWERS OF THE BOARD. • PROPOSED LEGISLATION,: The constitution and powers *of the proposed new board to control the supply of water to the North Shore boroughs was , discussed . yesterday by "the Lake Takapuna Board of Control. The chairman, Mr. R. P. Greville, presided,' and there were also present Mr. A. M, Gould, Mayor of Takapuna, Mr. W. E. Richardson, Mayor of Northcote, Mr. E. C. Walton, Mayor of Birkenhead, and Mr. A. V. Fraer, representing the Devonport'Borough Council. ' ■ i"' ' ', ' The immediate matter under consideration was the draft proposal for the amendment of the existing empowering legislation rendered necessary to put into operation tho proposed Lower Wairau scheme far the augmentation of the Lake Takapuna supply.- Matters receiving prime attention were the questions of representation, the basis on which finance was to be raised, and apportionment between the various boroughs. After considerable discussion the meeting was adjourned for the > purpose of obtaining requisite information. It is the intention of tho board to complete the draft proposals by agreement in as 6hort a time as possible to enable them to be reviewed by the local bodies concerned and to.be incorporated in the "Washingup Bill" this season.
