It was decided ,to support the Central Board's representations to the Minister, ; favouring the electing of P'owfer Board members by. ridings or combined I ridings if : , necessary. A request for the ruiculation of the Kio lrio district, on the aouthera edge of the board's . territory,: was referred /to; the Works Committee for investigation. ; Discussion arose yßegarding a proposal to extend the period ; of repayment of' advances to! dairymen to 10 years. The board now spreads repayments over thr«o years. That was held to bo sufficient time. ; _ The Waipa County Council, meeting at Ohaupc, received a deputation ) from the Te Awamutu Borough Council, which advocated co-orxratioq in prospecting for a suitable metal quarry adjaoent to Te Awa- " mutu. Opinion favoured i the Kawa or Kakepuku hills, where, it was declared, there were large deposits of excellent quality stone. Development by local bodies was favoured. ; The ; Public Works Department advised that the Whatiwhatihoe bridge, on, the border of Otorohanga and Waipa Counties, had been placed under control of Otorohanga, maintenance to be provided, 50 per cent, by Otorohanga, 25 per cent, each' by Kawhia / and Waipa .Counties. .The department ; will provide £125 toward the cost of putting the structure in fair repair. 1 It Was decided to convene another meeting \of the South ] Auckland local; bodies' delegates to con- ' Raider heavy traffio'control "and the : issue of composite licenses.
