■A, SUCCESSFUL GATHERING. < The DevonporE Orphans' Club more than maintained its reputation for hospitality on Saturday evening, when Mr. John Henderson occupied the. chair. In compliment to the nationality of the chairman, "or»t cakes" were a feature on the caterer's list. ; Among tho guesta officially ; welcomed were Mr. Howett, North Shore representative on ; the : Hospital Board, Mr. Patterson, late of , the superintending. staff of the Union Steamship Company, Mr. ? Archie Harrison, well known to Orphan Club members, and Mr. Blanford, vice-president rof the Pukekohe Orphans' .Club. . The programme was contributed: by the orchestra; Messrs. j Patterson, Calvert, Kenneth Impett, Wilkie, Blanford, Smithson, Bicker-' ton, Tollerton (elocution), Lawson (card tricks), Kindly (ventriloquism), "., and Yates (elocution). The accompanists were Messrs. Len. Elliot, W. Purcell, and-Wai-ter Impett. Next Saturday <the club will hold a Jadies' night... ;•■•
