A dispute has arisen between the King of the Hedjaz and the Egyptian Government in connection with the usual pilgrimage to Mecca. King Hussein declined to permit the Egyptian medical mission to accompany the pilgrims, on the ground that the Hedjaz possessed sufficiently good medical supervisors. Thereupon the Egyptian Government recalled the mission, which was conveying the sacred carpet from Cairo to Mecca.
