SHOOTING FATALITY.

TAURANGA FARMER'S DEATH. CHARGE RECEIVED IN-FACE.; Lbx telegraph.—oto ' correspondent,.] - . TAURANGA. Wednesday. ; A fatality occurred here : yesterday, 'resulting in the death of Mr. John Frederick . Bidder, a well-known farmer, on Cambridge Road, about three miles from the town. During the afternoon the deceased was engaged in looking after some dairy cattle on his farm. Enquiries show that he took a gun 'with him and went down one of the paddocks with the object of shooting hawk} which had been proving destructive ,in his poultry yard. Two shots were heard at intervals, but no attention was paid ■ to * these until Mr. Bidder returned to tho vicinity of the house some' time afterwards with the lower portion; of his face badly shattered. He was unable to speak and consequently no particulars are obtainable in regard to the occurrence. _ . , • . Medical aid , was .immediately summoned .and Mr. Bidder was removed to the hospital where he died' last night. '■ The deceased was a eon of the late Mr. F. Bidder, of Taitapu, near Christchurch. About 20 years ago he came to Tauranga and acquired a farm on Cambridge t Road, where he had since resided and which he i had converted into an excellent' property. He is survived by a widow and adult family of three sons and three daughters. The sons sire Messrs. Thomas and Christopher Bidder (Tauranga) and Frank Ridder- (Konim, Wairarapa). The ' daughters are Mrs. Addison (Otorohanga) and Miss Maud J. Bidder (Tauranga). •
