FOOTBALL. THE RUGBY GAME. MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. The Management Committee of the Auckland Rugby Union met last evening, Mr. A Gray presiding, in the absence of Mr. H. Frost, owing to illness. Several other members of the committee were absent, suffering from influenza, and only formal business was ; transacted. ■ SECONDARY SCHOOLS MATCHES. GRAMMAR SCHOOL CANCELLED. All matches arranged for the Auckland Grammar School in the secondary schools' competition have been cancelled; owing to the number of boys being incapacitated through influenza. / ~ ~~ ~" NORTH ISLAND TEAM. The New Zealand "Soccer" team arrived by th« Manuka yesterday, and was entertainer anf. night by the Now Zealand Bootball £ a nation. It was accorded a most enthusiastic reception, and was ■ congratulated on winning the "ashes from Australia. In the tests the Australians admitted that"they were defeated on their merits. Campbell, who scored _so sensationally in the test matches, said that in the second half of the last test the New Zealandors played magnificently. 'I never saw anything like it." he added.
