FARMER'S HILL WORK.

MATTER OF RETAINING WALL.

The cutting down of Farmer's Hill, on the Great South Road, has affected to a considerable extent the frontage of Dilworth Trust property facing the road, j and the question of the erection of a: retaining wall has lately received attention. The engineer of the One Tree Hill Road Board, Mr. J. Dawson, last evening advised the board to take euch of the Dihvorth property, under the Public Works Act, as would be required to widen the road and prevent slips. The chair- 1 man, Mir. R. G. Clark, expressed tho ' opinion that the Dilworth Trust should: contribute to the cost of the retaining' •wall; their attitude in the matter had not been helpful, but it was probable the trustees would ultimately agree to assist. It was decided that a deputation should wait on the trustees before any further action was taken.
