DEVONPORT COUNCIL.

The Devonport Borough Council met last evening, the Mayor, Mr. T. Lamonfc, presiding. There were aslo present. Messrs. E. Aldridge, A. Bartley, S. Bond, A. V. Fraer, J. BSslop, S. W. Luxford, E. ■; H. Little, J. Mays, and W. ' PerryTaylor. -V - '

The Mayor explained.that owing to illness he had been unable to proceed to Ohristchurch -; to (attend tih.6 Municipal Conference, but had telegraphed In Mr. G. ; Baildon, Deputy-Mayor of Auckland, to ; take charge of the council's remus. A vote of condolence with the relatives of the late Mr. J. A, Walker, who ■ was formerly, a member of the council, was carried. ; :i' ■' ■ ■

The Auckland Harbour Board, v regarding the parking of vehicles on Victoria Wharf, stated that the i board was desirous of re-opening the matter. The letter was • referred -to the Works Committee. . The Cheltenham Ratepayers' Association requested the closing of the bathing •sheds on Cheltenham Beaoh for winter, as they were only being used. as conveniences. The matter was, referred to the Works Committee for favourable consideration, together with a request that: the Beats rerently removed be replaced.
