CARPENTERS AND JOINERS.

THE DOMINION AWARD.

PILING WITHIN FEW DAYS!

The Dominion Award for Carpenters and Joiners is practically ready and will be filed within the next few days, according to a statement made yesterday by the president of the Arbitration Court, Mr. Justice Frazer.

Mr. S. E. Wright, for the employers, said there were a number of applications for exemption awaiting the attention of the Court, and he wished to know the procedure. The employers' representative, Mr. (W. Scott, said a clause in the new award would exempt a great many of those who were exempted, in. the past, , but there would be one or two who would not be covered, and application to the Court would be necessary. , His Honor said that such applications having reference to a Dominion award would have to be filed at Wellington, as that was the centre of the combined district. This was because under the new legislation such applications had to be filed in the office where the dispute originated and the award was filed. The Court had, however, arranged to hear applications at local centres to suit the conveniences of the parties, who could please themselves whether they appeared before the Court here or in Wellington.
