ARBITRATION COURT.
SITTING IN AUCKLAND.
ARRANGEMENT OP FIXTURES
The Auckland sittings of the Arbitration Court were commenced yesterday morning. The president, Mr. Justice Frazer, Mr. W. Scott, employers' representative, and Mr. H. Hunter, workers' representative, were on the bench. ,
The sitting occupied the morning only, the Court devoting itself to the task of making fixtures for the session, which the president announced would last about a week or ten days. .
The order of business agreed upon includes the following fixtures >~-To-day, hairdressers' dispute, ten mile radius, and a claim for a penalty, the inspector of awards against the Colonial Sugar Refining Company; to-morrow, an application by the inspector of awards iin connection with, the 'Dairy Employees' Award; Monday, July 23, a compensation case, Clark and another, against the owners of the ship Manurewa; Tuesday, Cooks and Stewards' Award, an application to join a number of small companies to the coastal award; Wednesday, a comSensation case, Borland against John Hen-; erson, Ltd.; Thursday, Singh against Fleming, a motion < for leave to set down. There were a number of other compensation ca3efi set down on the list, but owing to/the illness of counsel no fixtures could be made, and it was decided to have them mentioned next Monday. ; It was stated that the Hiknrangi coalminers' dispute had been settled, and the Court announced that I the . recommendations forwarded would be made into an award.-
The dispute between; San ford, Ltd., and the Federated Seamen, in connection with work on trawlers, which, had been set down on the list, was withdrawn, Mr. S. E. Wright, for the employers, stating that an industrial agreement would • be entered into between the parties. .There was also an. application to add parties to the South Auckland Enginedrivers, Winders, etc., Award. A telegram was received from the management of Muir's Reefs, Ltd., stating that they had not received sufficient notice of the application to add them- as a party. They also mentioned' that their engine-drivers were working under an agreement by which they received 20s per shift, which was [ above the award rate. This agreement would : expire on September 30 next. It % was , agreed that the matter of the applications should be mentioned at the next sittings of the Court at Auckland, by which time the Muir's Reefs agreement would have expired. ;
