FIRE-PROOF FURNISHINGS.

r A". P. HYDE'S DISPLAY.

' The' All-steel office furniture display of A. P. Hyde and Co., Elliot Street, Auckland, is one that will hold direct" interest for every business man who visits the Winter Show. The firm holds the agency for the famous General Fireproofing Company's goods, the foremost. of their kind in the United States, and the articles now on exhibition represent the very latest designs in various lines of office furniture and appliances. All-steel office furniture, be it noted, is not merely a 1 new idea in business furnishing, not just a style which may enjoy a vogue to-day and be forfotten to-morrow. It is something which as come to stay, something which places the All-steel furnished office in a class of -its own, as representing the most efficient, durable, and altogether. business-like type of office furnishing that has yet been evolved. Steel office equipment ,is the order of the day in ©very large modern city. ; - ..-' • •;'. One of the outstanding features of this particular display is the All-steel safe, a model passed by the American National Board of Fire Underwriters, built of casehardened Tungsten steel, and guaranteed absolutely fireproof. This model has been subjected to tests which few safes could endure, has been dropped 30ft. on to • a concrete base, fire-heated to 1840 degrees, and has passed through, an explosion test that would send the average safe skyhigh in tiny fragments. Such : a safe is the finest insurance against i irreparable loss that any firm could invest in. 'The display also includes filing cabinets, with a cheap line suitable for Email offices, and a better class of goods for larger concerns. Then there ia the ■,'■ Wyde-steel" ■ bus, constructed in sections, and mounted on a truck, so. that it can be wheeled into the strong room at night. It contains drawers for correspondence, bills,, ' and , a filing system. There is also a typiste's desk made of steel, and a fine 24-drawer document filing cabinet, which has lately attracted much attention in the business world. Another interesting feature of the display are the small wall safes for private homes,: an . absolutely safe receptacle for documents or jewellery. An Unette section cabinet, containing card index cash and stationary drawers, and a document file, is another item which will make strong appeal to business men. , Messrs. A. P. Hyde .and Co. hold the agency for the Imperial Standard .typewriter, and one of the latest models is included in the display. Over 100 of these machines were lately installed in the London County Council's; offices in the face of ' keenest competition, and , as a guarantee of three years is given with each machine/ advantage should be taken of this opportunity for inspection.,
