REFRIGERATING INDUSTRY.

J. WELDRJDGE AND SINCLAIR (N.Z.), LTD.'S, DISPLAY.

No exhibit in the Winter Show bears more conclusive testimony to the wonderful industrial development of Auckland than that of J. Wildridge and Sinclair (N.Z.), Ltd., manufacturers of refrigerating machinery. It is but a few years ago since cold storage was an almost- unexplored field in industrial life, whereas today a refrigerating plant is an essential feature in the operation of scores of primary and secondary industries. J. Wildridge and Sinclair (N.Z.), Ltd., are importers and Auckland's sole manufacturers of this class of machinery; they specialise in it, and have carried out some of the largest refrigerating installations in New Zealand, notably the equipment of the Imlay Freezing Works at Wanganui. They cater not only for the large concerns, however, but for the smaller firms requiring a les3 extensive plant. They also specialise In the overhaul and repair of refrigerating machinery. A comprehensive display of the class of work carried out at the Fanshawe Street engineering shop will give country visitors to the Winter Show an excellent idea of the high standard attained in the manufacture of this type of machinery. A conspicuous feature of the display is a large ammonia compressor, of New Zealand manufacture, the castings being made from New Zealand iron. . The firm also exhibits a small, compact plant suitable for refrigerating work on a lesser scale, both pieces of machinery embodying the very latest and most effective ideas in modern refrigeration. There are also sets of coils, and a wide range of ammonia fittings. Of special interest to architects, engineers and builders, Is an exhibit of the Wailes-Dove bitumastic solution, for which J. Wildridge and Sinclair (N.Z.), Ltd., are sole agents. This is a quick-drying bitumen solution, possessing anti-corrosive propjr*je- that make it invaluable for increasing the durability of all structural steel or iron work, colliery head-gear, gas holder*, bridges, etc. Being waterproof and impervious to the weather, it is also excellent for the treatment of concrete, roofs, pipes and- tanks, and there are no damp walls where the Wailes-Dove solution has been applied!; The solution was used exclusively in, the construction .of the Panama Canal, and is now -being used' on the new large floating dock for Southampton. Such facts speak for themselves. The display is one which country and town visitors alike should make a point of seeing.
