ORDER OF GOOD SHEPHERD.

THE NEW BUILDING SCHEME.

FINANCIAL AID URGED.

The eighteenth annual meeting of the members and supporters of the Order of the Good Shepherd was held in St. Paul's schoolroom, Symonds Street, yesterday afternoon. There was a good attendance, and Bishop Averill presided. The treasurer's statement showed that the society was in a very good financial position, having a total credit balance of £690.

The secretary's report stated that a great deal of work had been accomplished during the year at the city creche, which had proved itself to be an indispensab'e institution. The activities of the parochial workers during the year had done much to alleviate poverty, and many people in straitened circumstances had received assistance. The distribution of clothing had been carried out systematically from the depot in Grey Street. The routine of the workers during the year had included regular visits to the public hospital, the Costley Home, the mental hospital, and the gaol. , An appeal for support was made by Archdeacon Mac Murray, who considered that while church people helped other than church institutions, they should not permit their own institutions to suffer. , The bishop strongly urged church people to bo active in helping in the building of the new house and assisting the order generally. The Rev. G. Coats also spoke in furtherance of the order's objects. The following committee w?a appointed: —Archdeacon Calder. the Rev. F.I W. Younc. Mesdames H"e;h Campbell and George Hunt.
