The storm area which effected the East Coast at ■ the end of last week has not yet passed .away, judging by the barometer. This continues very low, and since Saturday has registered about 29.50 in., last night's reading being 29.55 in. Vessels arriving at Auckland report that stormy weather is still being experienced off the . coast. The auxiliary schooner Huia was hove to in a hard south-east gale from Saturday until Monday, and the steamer Cragness, ; which arrived from Texas yesterday, was steaming against a succession of southerly gales from, July 5 until she reached Auckland. ■'■'' V.v' .' ■ "'■ ■'■ The steamers Kalomo, Wanakat and Atholl, which sailed from Auckland on Friday, ' Saturday and Sunday- respect-.-made very prolonged passages to. their destinations. Apparently the weather has improved considerably, as , the Arahura,; ; which sailed from Auckland at 5.30 p.m. ; on Tuesday, reached Tokomaru Bay at 1.30. p.m. yesterday, up to her usual time.
