AUSTRALIA'S FIRST MATCH.
HAWAII OR MAINLAND. • A. and N.Z. , SYDNF.Y. May 10. The American and Hawaiian Lawn Tennis Association cabled to Australia asking that the match against Hawaii be;played .there. Australia opposed tftis on account of the fortnight's delay entailed in breaking the journey, and also because Anderson is not used to an asphalt court, which would necessitate a change of strokes. It is also contended that by playing in America the Australians would have an opportunity of practice on grass courts. i The draw for the first round is: Australia v. Hawaii, and Canada v. Japan. There is no bye, as was previously announced.
