AMATEUR GOLF TOURNEY
FOUR AMERICANS LEFT.
TOLLEY DEFEATS MARSTON.
Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 8.5 p.m.) LONDON, May 10.
The most notable match in the third round of the amateur golf championship was C. J. H. Tolley's victory over Marston, an American, 3 up and 2 to play. Marston led 2 up at the sixth, but Tolley at the turn was 1 up, ■ and he remained in the lead to the end, giving one of the finest displays of his career. Humphries beat Wright, another American, but Willing, Ouimet, Neville, and Rotan*. reached the fourth round, also Wethered, Harris, Lassen, and Harry Braid. Much surprise was occasioned by Douglas Grant, an American resident in Britain, beating Holderness, the 1922 champion, by 2 up and 1 to play.
Walter Hagen, Gene Sarazen, W. Hoffman, and J. H. Kirkwood have arrived from the United States. All are to compete in the open golf championship.
