PARISHIONERS' MEETING.

FUNDS FOR SWIMMING BATHS. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] I TE AWAMUTU. Thursday. The annual meeting of parishioners of St John's Anglican Church -was held on Tuesday evening, the vicar, the Rev. G. l'. Robson, presiding over a largo attendance. Reports on various branches of church work showed that fairly satisfactory progress had been made, but the finances were not much better than a year ago. Over £150, collected for the special purpose, had been expended on renovating the church. The new parish hall was nearing completion. Officers for the ensuing year were elected as under :—Vicar's warden, Mr. H. Y. Collins; people's warden, Mr. Fox; vestry, Messrs. A. J. Tailby, J. I. North, A. C. Hazel-wood,- M. H. Williams, J. G. Wynyard. F. B. Bowden, A. C. Cruickshank, H. A;' Swarbrick and L. Wallis. Mr. Wallis was appointed synodsman, Mr. G. 0. Jourdain auditor, and Mr. Wynyard treasurer. The vicar urged the need for a church memorial for those local Anglicans who gave their lives in the Great War. Te Awamutu had an historic church, with very many memories, and he thought it appropriate the church should contain a war memorial. It was stated that there was already about £20 promised for the purpose. The carnival to raise funds for swimming baths has already produced £400. and it is hoped that next Saturday's floral fete will bring in another — ~oJ. This total will be insufficient for the purpose, but later on probably another effort will be made.
