Two Englishmen, walking in the grounds of an old chateau at Hyeres, near Toulon, suddenly came on two bodies, a man shot through the heart, and a woman tlirough the temple. Search of the woman's handbag disclosed that they were lovers, and came to Hyeres for a three weeks' holiday. They exhausted their money, and decided to commit suicide. The girl's letter, addressed to her parents, said: "Edouard and- I leved passionately. We were unable to marry, and wore afraid of growing old and perhaps drifting apart, and decided, to die together." In a diary under the date April 10 was the laconic entry, "Dead."
