NON-COMMITTAL ANSWER.

SIR JOSEPH WARD'S VOTE.

ALLEGIANCE NOT DEFINED.

[BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] MORRINSVILLB, Wednesday. " If it should so happen that you are elected for Tauranga and in the next session of Parliament Mr. Wilford moves a vote of no-confidence in the Massey Government, how would you vote?" was a question put to Sir Joseph Ward at Morrinsville last night. Sir Joseph Ward, in his reply, said, "I am not trying to put Mr. .>ilford's position out of joint. Mr. Wilford is Leader of the Liberal Party. He was elected to that position. The question is not a fair one to put. Whatever happens in Parliament ' will have my very careful consideration with a view to doing what is best calculated to further the interests of the country. There will have to be conferences of members of the House, and the outcome of these conferences must have a very important influence on the political situation. I do not want to anticipate what would happen, and it would put roe in a wrong position if I attempted to do it."
