BREACH OF AWARD.
MINERS' UNION FINED £20.
[BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION. ] WESTPOKT Wednesday. In the Magistrate's Court to-day, the inspector of awards sought to recover from the Millerton and Granity Miners' Union the sum of £200 as damages for an alleged breach of an award arising out of a strike in February when a miner was dismissed for using abusive language to the mine manager. The mine wa 8 idle for two days, and resumed on the miner apologising to the manager. > The union entered a technical plea of guilty, but offered extenuating circumstances, stating that the miner might have been fined instead of being dismissed, and that an apology eventually was accepted. The magistrate thought some < tactlessness had been shown on both sides, and fixed the penalty at £20, with costs., ,
