WEED SEEDS IN WHEAT.
ILL-EFFECTS ON FLOUR.
AUSTRALIAN EXPERIMENTS.
A. and N.Z. SYDNEY. March 21. The Department of Agriculture has conducted experiments to investigate, the effects of two weed pests, Hoxhrm Scent and Bokhara clover, the seeds of which when ground with wheat are suspected of giving bread a peculiar flavour. The report states that the presence of even 3 per cent, of these seeds in wheat is detrimental to the baking quality of flour. The scent is plainly detectable in tread, but. the flavour i* comparatively unaffected.
