PROPOSED NEW BOROUGH.
ONE TREE HILL DISTRICT.
...The ambition of the One .Tree Hill District to become a borough was the subject of discussion by the Road Board last evening. The petition to the Minister for Internal Affairs was forwarded some time ago, and it was stated that the board was waiting for a commission to be appointed. The board is naturally anxious there should be no undue delay in carrying through the transformation, and, as the chairman remarked, the Government knew that road board elections took place in May. They did not want to have to face two elections, one as a road board, and then, later, in connection with the election of borough councillors. It was decided that a telegram be despatched to the Minister, asking him to endeavour to expedite the matter.
