AUCKLAND LAND BOARDS.
LARGE VOLUME OF BUSINESS.
The Auckland Land Board met yesterday, the commissioner for Crown lands, Mr. H. M. Skeet, presiding. There were also present Messrs. E. F. Andrews, J. P. Bailey, R. Boddy, and B. Sladdon. Six forfeitures were ordered, and three cases were adjourned. Postponement of rent was allowed in 10 cases, and in five cases it was resolved to call up mortgages. At the conclusion of the meeting the board carried a motion expressing appreciation of the work of Mr. Andrews, whose term as representative of the Crown tenants has nearly ( expired. It was stated that Mr. Andrews' knowledge of the conditions under which soldier farmers were working had been of great value to the board. The North Auckland Land Board also met yesterday, the commissioner for, Crown lands, Mr. R. P. Greville, presiding. There were also present Messrs. H. Aitkenhead, A. Finlayson, < and J. ,E. Wells. One hundred and nine cases were dealt with, in addition to over 100 applications for gum-washing clauses. A ballot was taken for 30 sections at Rotoroa, near Awanui, for which there were 78 applicants. It was decided to subdivide the large gum reserve at Poroti, near Whangarei, into 200-acre holdings, which would be thrown open, rent free, for five years.
