THE POSTER BALL.

TO-NIGHT'S ATTRACTION.

TOWN HALL FUNCTION.

One of the greatest attractions of Carnival Week, the poster, advertising, plain and fancy dress ball, -will take place at the Town Hall to-night. The spectacle promises to be one of unusual beauty, a special decorative scheme having been carried out on lines similar to those adopted at Covent Garden. The fancy-dress costumes* will add a note of novel charm to the scene, and a grand march of over thirty beautifully costumed fancy sets will be a spectacular event such as the Town Hall has not seen for a long time past. Generous money prizes have been offered for the most effective costumes, and there will probably be a record number of entries. The demand for spectators' tickets haß been very heavy, and those wishing to secure good vantage points from which to view the dancine will be well advised to arrive early. Music will bo supplied by Kingeland's orchestra, and the dancing will start at 8.30. Another interesting evening entertainment is promised for to-morrow, when the torchlight procession and military tattoo at the Domain will be held, concluding with a fireworks display.
