NGARUAWAHIA MEETING.
WISH WYNNE WINS THE CUP.
Delightful weather favoured the Ngaruawahia Racing Club for its annual non-total-isator meeting, which was held on Saturday. The attendance was good, and among those present wae the club's patron, Mr. R. F Bollard, M.P. The race track was a trifle on the rough ■ side. Like most meetings of its kind the gathering provided an enjoyable day's sport for the local residents, and with the true sporting spirit obtaining throughout, everything phased off .successfully. Without a totalieator permit it has been & difficult task for the club to carry on, and it is mainly due to the energy .and enthusiasm of the club's executive, winch consists of a number of good sports, that the club has continued to hold these annual gatherings. The management of the meeting in the hands of the secretary. Mr. J. Leith, was very satisfactory, while the various other officials all worked hard, to make the meeting a success. The proceedings were considerably enlivened by the Huntjy Band, which rendered a number of selections during the day. , _ After the race for the Publicans' Piirse J. Bishop, the rider of Rarangi, lodged a complaint against W. Ronnie and Morris, the respective riders of Tireless and Ramblin' Kid, for interference, and both of those riders wore reprimanded. Garmonsway's Wairiri, 8.9 (Harker) 3 Also Started.—Winter Laes, 9.4; White Te Korakora, 8.2; Queen Ellen, 7.6: Eighlin, 7.10; Lndy Extractor, 8.9; Sir Clifton, 8.2; Lady Petain, 8.13. Winter Lass made the early running, but dropped back in the straight. Formateen coming through to win by two .engths from Te Hoe, who was a length in front of Wairiri. Time, lm 19s. PUBLICANS' PURSE of £12; 6 fur, J. Gerrand's b m Rarangi, Byre, by General Lamont— 7.12 (Bishop) 1 .T. Gordon's TireleßS. 9.0 (Renins) . . 2 W. Hall's Ramblin' Kid, 7.9 (Moma).. 8 The only starters. With a couple of furlongs covered Rarangi took charge, and was never afterwards headed, winning easily by six lengths from Tireless a similar distance behind whom came Ramblin' Kid. Time, lm 18s. Ngaroto, who was always in the first three, was the only competitor to complete tho journey without a break, and got home by a length and a-half from Marvin Eclipse, with Mountain Boy a length farther back third. When they settled down Wish Wynne was in charge from Uncle Sam. and Prince Rufus, and this order, was maintained the most of the journey.. Prince Rufus challenged Wish Wynne in the run home, but the latter kept him off to win by threequarters of a length. Uncle Sam was & lengths farther back third. Time, 2m 12s. HACK HANDICAP of £12, 6 fur. G. Garmonsway's br m Wairiri, aged by Advance—Waipuna, 8.5 (Gilmer) . . 1 Hall, Corigley, and Hall's Eibhhn, 7.10 (Morris) 2 H. Whitehead's Lady Petain. 7.7 (Reid) S Also Started.— Law, 8.5; White To Korakor.i, 7.9. Eibhlin and Lady Petain made the running, but Wairiri cut them down in the straight, and won by half a length from Eibhlin, who was a length end a-half in advance oi Lady Petain. Time, Ira 225. Clarkin's Ngaroto, 24yds (Burrows). . 8 Also Started. —Happy Valley, limit; Lena Ansel, Marvin Eclipse, 24yds; Canberra, 48yds. When they had gone a furlong Mountain Boy assumed command, and was never afterwards headed, and ran home a winner by three lengths from Kereone, who defeated Ngaroto by a neck for second honous. Time, 5m 87s. FLYING HANDICAP of £15; 6 fur. J. Gerrand's b m Rarangi, syrs, by General Lamont—Rangira, 8.3 (Bishop) 1 S. Matthew's Prince Rufus, 7.10 (Morris) 3 E. Rarangi led all the way, and wen easily by six lengths from Prince Rufus. wITh Wish Wynne a neck farther back third. Time, lm 17s.
