POLICE COURT NEWS.
ABSENT FROM THEIR SHIP.
THREE SEAMEN PUNISHED.
Three seamen from the large British steamer Armagh pleaded guilty at the Police Court on Saturday before Mr. J. W. Poynton, S.M., and Mr. J. H. Fray, J.P., with being absent from the vessel for two days without leave. They were Frank Jenns, aged 26, Stephen Elphick, aged 24, and Fred. Hales, aged 22. Their action, it was stated, had caused a great deal of inconvenience. Each war, sentenced to 24 hours' imprisonment, but was ordered vo be placed on board the steamer before she sailed at noon. The men were further ordered to forfeit two days' wages and pay costs.
