AUCKLAND ASSOCIATION.

CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS.

The senior club championship cricket competition, under the auspices of the Auckland Cricket Association, was conJ tinned, on Saturday. Th« weather was fine, the wickets generally were good and the outfields fast. There were fair team totals, and several 'fine individual performances registered during the day. The match between Ponsonby and Grafton was played on No. 1 wicket, fit Eden Park. Ponsonby won the toss and went in, compiling 219 for tho first innings. Smith was t,op scorer with 84 runs, Burton being second highest contributor with 40 runs. Grafton had compiled 44 runs for the loss of one wicket, when stumps* were drawn. The match between University and Eden, played on No. 2 wicket, nt Eden Park, opened qomewhat disappointingly. University won the toss, and in the first innings compiled the comparatively moderate total of 149 runs. Of this score Goodwin claimed 54, compiled by sparkling cricket, including twp sixes and seven fours. The only other University batsman to. reach double figures was Saunders, who contributed a useful 29 runs, which included six boundary hits. At 'the ciose of play Eden had scored 122 runs for the loss of three wickets. The match between North Shore and Parncll was played at North Shore. .larnell had first use of a good wicket, compiling 201 runs in the first innings. Mcteod (43), Somervell (29), and Hemus (28). were the principal contributors, while extras assisted materially by adding 43. At the drawing of stumps North Shore bad lost one wicket for 56 runs.
