AUCKLAND ROTARY CLUB.
ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The Auckland Rotary Club held its weekly luncheon yesterday, the president, Mr. C. Rhodes, presiding. Among the guests were Messrs. A. Thompson, president of the United Commercial Travellers and Warehousemen's Association, W. F. Herrich, general secretary, and James Brown, of Dunedin. Other guests included Mr. P. Barr, of Dunedin, and Mr. W. Clark, of Sheffield, England. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year without opposition: — President, Professor H. W. Segar; vicepresident, Mr- E. Anderson; immediate East president, Mr. C. Rhodes; Secretary, Air. A. J. Hutchinson; treasurer, Mr.fJ. A. Gentles; directors, Messrs. F. M. Hills, H. Horton, K. Mackenzie, and H. T. Goldie. Short addresses on the Rotary code of ethics were delivered by Messrs. C. Nathan, W. Gilmour, B. G. Booth, J. M. Eliffe, F. B. Spencer and S. H. Leyland.
CLUBS AND DINNER.
GROWTH OF THE MOVEMENT. The annual dinner of the Auckland Rotary Club was held at the Tiffin restaurant last evening. The president, Professor 11. W. Segar, occupied the chair. In illustrating the growth of Rotary, the president said the meeting of the original Rotary Club took -.place in 1905. Between 1908 and the last convention held in June, 1922, 1272 organised clubs had been established, not" one of which had ceased to exist. At present there were about 81,000 members distributed in 25 different countries. Since the convention last year, the formation of additional clubs" brought the total number of clubs up to 1500. A toast list was honoured during the evening. Songs were sung by Miss U. Scott, and Messrs. H. 0. McFarlane and H. Westwood, and monologues were given by Miss Peel and Mr. A. McElwain.
