DOMINIONS' DEFENCE.
THE POSITION OF INDIA. LONDON. Feb. 22. An interesting suggestion arising from Lord Rawlinson's scheme for increasing India's control of the army, has been made by the Saturday Review. It proposes a system of reciprocal defence, in which India, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand, and certain Crown colonies would participate. India, under this, would cease to be treated as an isolated item in the list of territories to be defended, and, instead, would become the centre from which Britain could conduct the defence of the whole Middle East and reinforce every menaced area under the British flair «*st of Suez.
