DELIVERY OF TELEGRAMS.
Sir, —We are a family of two, in Onehunga. My helpmate being in hospital, while I go out to work daily, thera was •no one at home to receive a telegram one day last week. When I returned, I found a notification under the door to the effect that a telegram awaited me at the post office. As it was then too late to go, the office being shut, I had to wait until next day. I could not got the telegram in the morning,. as I had to be at work before 9 a.m., but I got it in the afternoon. Now, had I been compelled to remain at work in the city until 5 p.m. each day, I could not have received my telegram before Saturday afternoon. A letter, on the other hand, would have been delivered into my post box on the day of its receipt in Onehunga. Surely there is something wrong with the telegraphic system which permits this sort of thing. I would suggest that when no one is at home a prepaid telegram be left in the post box, and a red slip be put in the key hole or under the door. There must be some way of overcoming such a difficulty. Telegram.
