RAGWORT.

Sir,--—Mr. J- B. Chapman's contribution re above was the first intimation I have received chat ragwort in the Auckland district. I have been fined .down South for failure "to suppress ragwort, in compliance with ..the .;■■, Noxious Weeds Act, and I know ragwort; also the black- hairy grub with yellow- spots, and I can assure Mr. J. B. Chapman that wherever he finds ragwort, he . need not worry about the black grub as it ; ; will be there, . hair, yellow : spots and ":;'j*U complete in it 3 nastiness. I can '-■ also assure Mr. Chapman's poor struggling farmer, that he will be- poorer, and have to struggle harder if (he does not keep ragwort and black hairy grub in check. Cattle won't eat ragwort, sheep eat it if starved, grub, hair spots and all, and the latter condition of the sheep is worse than hunger. W. Kirkpatrick.
