OUTBREAKS OF FIRE.
FLAX IN PLASTER FACTORY. DAMAGE IN A FISH SHOP. A quantity of flax in a fibrous plaster factory at Wilton Street, Grey Lynn, caught fire yesterday shortly before noon. The building, which is a one-storeyed wooden structure, is owned and occupied by Messrs. Hosken Brothers. The City and Grey Lynn brigades extinguished the outbreak after a fair portion of the' flax had been destroyed, while slight damage was done to the building. The building is insured for £400 in the Guardian Office, and the contents for £200 in the State Office. .. ; A fire in a fish shop at 250, Karangahape Road, occurred about half an hour later. The premises were being cleaned in readiness for a new tenant, and, papers and refuse which were being burned set fire ..to the ceiling of the smoking-room. Only minor'damage was done. The shop is owned by Mr. R. H. Macky and the occupier was M. J. Umich. The particular room damaged is insured for £50 in the Northern Assurance Office.
