CANADIAN PIONEER FIRE.
GENERAL AVERAGE DECLARED FIFTEEN PER CENT. A general average of 15 per cent, has been declared by the underwriters to cover the damage to the hull and cargo of the steamer Canadian Pioneer caused by the fire that occurred on the vessel on February 1. • There was in the ship between 300 and 400 tons of cargo from Montreal and Adelaide for Auckland. This was discharged and stored in the Harbour Board shed pending a declaration of general average. •. Arrangements for repairs to the steamer were not completed yesterday. The tenders for the work have been submitted to London and instructions with regard to the matter should reach Auckland today. "
