AUCKLAND ROTARY CLUB.

NOMINATION OF OFFICERS. THE DUNEDIN MOVEMENT. The Auckland Rotary Club held a special business meeting at its luncheon yesterday. The chairman, Mr. 0. Rhodes, presided. Nominations were recommended by the Nominations Committee, and, there being no additional nominations, the following will be declared elected at the annual meeting next month:—President, Professor H. W. Segar; vice-president. Mr. E. Anderson; immediate past president, Mr. C. Rhodes; secretary, Mr. A. J. Hutchinson; treasurer, Mr. J. A. Gentles; directors, Messrs. F. M. Hills, H. Horton, K. Mackenzie, and H. T. Goldie. Captain H. H. Sergeant, Auckland harbourmaster, was welcomed back from his visit abroad. The Hon. George Itowlds reported on his recent visit to Dunedin, where he had been responsible for the initiation of a Rotary Club, thus completing the chain of clubs in the cities. The Dunedin members could be counted on building up a healthy, vigorous club which would emulate the Auckland club's standard, a standard which set the pace for the Rotary Clubs of Australia and New Zealand. In the other centres of the Dominion the cjgbs were progressing staunchly, and it was hoped before long to start a club in Hamilton as a preliminary to the establishment of other clubs in country' centres. ■ :■; The chairman reminded members of the picnic to be held at Motutapu on Wednesday, February 21. .. _ ■ '/ The question of financially assisting the Auckland : Artillery Band to attend the forthcoming band competitions at New i Plymouth was referred to the board of i directors for report. The secretary, Mr; ( A. J. Hutchinson, said that in Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin special Citizens' Committees were in existence for ihii purpose of attending to the needs of thii city bands.
