REGENT'S PARK CRIME.
MRS. MIDDLETON MURDERED. i ' SHOT FOUR MONTHS AGO. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 8.6 p.m.) LONDON. .Jan. 14. At the inquest into the death of Mrs. Middleton, whose body was found at a house in Regent's Park, occupied by a tailor named Maltby, with whom she had been living, a verdict was returned'to tho effect that the woman was murdered by Maltby. A doctor gave evidence that the woman must have dissd four or five months ago. The police found many letters scattered about the house, some of them pinned on doors, implying that the woman committed suicide. These letters were written by Maltby, and some of them were addressed to the .woman in endearing terms, setting cut that the writer was screwing up courage to commit / suicide and join her. One of the letters read: "It is all right,' darling; hear you calling me. I am going to do it to-day. I am a coward, or I should have,been with you' before." Maltby shot himself when the police broke into the house.
