,The tone of the Auckland sharemavket yesterday was, firm, .but there were riot many transactions. in Government stocks, buyers of War Loans, 3.938 and) 1939, eased a shade -to ,£96 .10s, /with sellers of ' the former at..'£97' 10.3. The 1927 issue had firmer demand at £96 10s, sellers not quoting. Solditv-5 1 Loans, bonds «and inscribed slock, had sustained '.inquiry! at par, but holders failed to quote. New Zealand Inscribed Stock, 1927 and 1939, had buyers at : £96 ss, and the 1929 issue, was wanted at : £95 ss, without response from holders. In local bodies' debentures City of Auckland 5| v per cents. firmed, selling at £26. with late offers of £95 10s, and no sellers.' In company debentures Auckland Gas, 1932, 5 per cents. changed hands at £90, a substantial advance of £5 108 on-the best price offered at the first call. There were buyers at the last call at £87. In banks inquiry was sustained, with a firming tendency in some lines. Australasias were looked for at £13, sellers £13 10s. Nationals hardened to £6- 7s buyers, with sellers at £6 Bs. New South Wales had sellers 'at £36 ss. buyers £35 ss. • For New Zealands buyers offered 575, sellers asking 57s 9d. Unions of Australia had buyers at £13 19s, sellers £14 2s 6d. In insurances Nationals sold at 735, with late offers of 72s 6d, sellers 745. New Sealands were still asked for at 28s, sellers 28s 6d. South British had steady demand at 375, but there were no -sellers. • Standards a.(j 3§s 3d were wanted at 33s 6d. In coals Taupiris (ord.) werti done at 19s, and in financial lines, River Plates sold at 20s 9d. In miscellaneous lines Milne and Choyc© (rights)., sold freely at Is 8d -and Is 7d, and Wilsons Cements had sale at 235. In mining Waihis were held at 34s 6d, buyers 33s 9d. - Grand Junctions at' 10s 3d wore not in demand. Moatiataiaris had sellers at 3s 6d, buyers 3s 3d.
