LOSS IN ONE [CASE TOTALS £30,
Four cases of premises being entered by burgars have been reported recently. The grocery shop of Mr. R. Reid, in Khyber Pass, was entered on Thursday night, by forcing a side window. An attempt to enter had first been made at the front door, and the padlock had been smashed, but further progress was barred by: another lock on the inside. The thieves obtained about 7s in cash arid tobacco .: to the value of about 15s. From the fact that 41b. of plug tobacco were left lying on the counter it is thought the : intruder was disturbed and had to make a hurried exit. ; ..■'>■''. ■ ~.. Oh the same night the premises of Messrs. Thompson Bros., also m Khyoer Pass, were entered, and the sum of £4 Is in cash was taken from the cash register, which was broken open. Entrance was obtained through a back door, the lock of which was smashed, -t The third case took' place, on Thursday afternoon at a residence 'in Woodhall Road, Epsom- The'occupants were absent at tile time, but a neighbour saw a, man climbing out of a back window, Uheman rode away on a horse. When the occupier returnod it was found that a locked door had prevented: the intruder getting further than the room he had entered. /Nothing. ■ was taken. -.■'.,. ■/' The residence of Mr. C. J. Tunks, Arney Road, Remuera, was robbed during the recent holidays. Mr. Tunks and lus family were away camping from December 22 to January 7, and left ; the house untenanted. On their return they-found, that some person had entered premises and stolen clothing, cutlery, etc., to a total value of about £30. - ~'■•' v. '•'•'" '■ ■ ' '"'-■■■
