CORONER'S WORK FOR YEAR. MOTOR FATALITIES INCREASE, Last year was another very busy one for the City Coroner in Sydney. Although there were seven fewer inquests in 1922 than in 1921, there was an increase in tramway, motor, and general accidents. The number of murder inquests was the same, but the increase in motor fatalities, in particular, was heavy. Cases in which intemperance was the cause of death were fewer than in 1921. Poisonings, drownings, deaths by shooting and hangings also decreased. There were three deaths from attacks by shark, and one from snakebite in 1922. The coroner did not inquire into a, single death of this description in 1921, In al! the Coroner held 522 inquests during 1922, whereas in 1921 the total was 529. , Inquests covering unforeseen i deaths dispensed with last year numbered 392, while in the preceding year the total was 427. There were 397 fires, reported to the Coroner as against 388 in 1921. During the year there were 445 bodies in the . morgue. In 1921 there were 46 more. The post-mortems totalled 291, corresponding with the number in 1921. Cases in which persons were committed for trial totalled 22 or 9 more than in 1921. ■ __^_
