DEOWNED IN WAIKATO,
DEATH OF A MAORI. Details of a drowning accident*at Huntly last Saturday, of which a Maori named Alick Ranginui was the victim, have just. come to hand; : It is stated that Ranginni f . who resided at Waahi, attempted to swim the Waikato River at about five o'clock in the afternoon during the height of a thunderstorm.. He landed on a sandbank, near the centre ;of "■. the river, bat on continuing his swim he appeared to get into difficulties arid luster disappeared. Unsuccessful attempts have been made to recover the body. Ranginui, who was 36 * years of age, leaves a widow but ret; family.' ''.
