WAZIRISTAN CAMPAIGN.
BOMBING TACTICS EFFECTIVE TRIBES INCLINED TO PEACE. A. and N.Z. DELHI. Jan. 9. The punitive bombing expeditions against the Mahsuds continue, and they appear to be having a sobering effect on the inhabitants in the areas that are being bombed. The number of actual casualties is small, but the material damage inflicted is great. One tribe that recently abducted some officers and their attendants and were not previously recalcitrant are now talking of peace. The inhabitants of Makin, apparently suffering from a guilty conscience, are digging themselves in. Work on the Razmak road is being carried on without much interruption, though one of the prominent tribal leaders threatens to oppose the advance of our troops to Razmak.
