GEOLOGICAL SURVEY.

The party of surveyors, under Mr. Ferrar, who are carrying out a geological and topographical survey of the North, have just completed their work in the Manngaturoto district, and are working westward toward the Wairoa.■■■'■'.■'

The record of rain for* 1922 "shows a total of 54.05 inches. The wettest month proved to be May, when 7.21 inches fell, and the driest was August, 2.75 inches. Otherwise the rain was well distributed over the year, and no abnormal rainfall was recorded. For each of the last three months the record showed three inches. Hence the country is looking exceptionally gre6n, feed is abundant, and the local dairy factory will probably have a record output. Large quantities of stock continue to be railed from here, several special stock trains leaving weekly. '■.•■'•
