THE FALL AT WAITAKERE.

COMPAKISON WITH CITY.

; The- rainfall in th© Waitakere Ranges ia always considerably greater" than that in. the city, bat the difference between the two roginters in 1922 was. not so great as is usually the case, being rather more than lOiin., compared with 13in. in 1821 and nearly 21in. in 1920. The fall at the Waitakere dam for the year, as registered by the City Council's gauge, ■'; was 68.85 in., compared , with 48.24 in. recorded in Albert Park. The falls at Waitakere in 1920 and 1921 r*-' spectiyely: were 79.12 in. and 52.87 in., the city totals for those years being 58.17 in. and 39.68 in. respectively. ' :

The highest monthly fall at Waitakere last year was that of 10.46 in. in December, and the lowest 1.60 in. in July. Of the December fall over one-half, 5.40 in., fell in one week. The Waitakere fall in February, April, July, and September was less than that in the city.
