Plans I , ind specifications for the new fire brigade • | station at the corner of Kenrick and ' | Koromiko Streets were approved, and , these will bo submitted to the Govern- ' ment officer, Inspector Hugo, before I tenders are called. The building will be' '! a two-storeved ferro-concrete ono, costing upwards of" £2000. . Reports indicate that large entries will !be received for the sports meeting at j Springdale on Boxing Day and at Te I Aroha on New Year's Day. For the latter meeting entries have already come in J from Whangarei, Auckland, the King I Country, Thames and Hamilton. Both t clubs are affiliated to the Northern Athi letio Union, which, body has its headI quarters at Te Aroha. I I The Hungahunga Drainage Board has ! decided to defer acceptance of tenders for ! improving the Piraunui drain until next meeting, and meantime an inspection of the locality will be made by members. A I tender, atss per chain, was accepted fori J cleaning about f7O chains of the Waihokau drain. Intimation has been received by the Borough Council from the Public Works" Department that the grant for culverting Boundary Street Creek, alongside the post office, is £450. The grant is avail, able, plans and specifications have been" approved by the department, and the-' council expects to put the work in hand during Janua.ry.
