WAITEMATA BRIDGES.
TWO NEW PROPOSALS.
REFERRED TO COMMISSION. The proposed erection of certain bridges in the Waitemata County was discussed at yesterday's meeting of the County Council. The engineer, Mr. G. A. Jackson, reported that the ratepayers of To Atatu and Hobsonville wero moving in the direction of shortening the distance between their districts and the city by bridging the Taikata and Whau creeks. He recommended that the Royal Commission which will shortly be set up to report on the Wairau Creek bridge be asked to report as to whether a bridge should be erected over the Taikata Creek at a point 10 chains up stream from the Te Atatu Wharf, and whether a bridge should be effected across the Whau Creek opposite Pollen's Island. The recommendation was agreed to provided it would not delay the commission's inquiries regarding the Wairau Creek.
It was decided to issue a license to the City Council for its tramway along the Brooklyn Valley. The term of the license was limited three years, and certain conditions imposed for the purpose ot protecting pedestrians and road traffic. It was agreed to expend a small sum for the repair of the road between Silverdalo and Waiwera.
