IMPROVING DAIRY HERDS.
TESTING AT TAURANGA. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] TAURANGA. Wednesday. The results of the first complete month's test of the Tauranga Herd Testing Association are announced. Altogether some 678 cowa, comprising 29 herds, were tested. The highest individual test® were those credited to No. 3 in Mr. A. Patton's, herd (6.8), and to No. 7 in Mr. W. Bell's herd (6.3). The highest individual butter-fat producer for the month was Mr. A. W. Carmichael's No. 1, with a test of 5.5 and a production of 701b. of butter-fat. The highest individual herd was that of Mr. J. Taylor, Omanawa, which averaged 50.91b. of butter-fat per cow.
