VISITORS SCORE 311. A. and N.Z. CAPETOWN. Nov. 12. The match between the M.C.C. Eleven and the Western Provinces was continued to-day, when the visitors hatted in reply to the home team's score of 148. Mesd and Fender, in their partnership, gave a great display of forceful and versatile cricket, England's first innings closing for 311, the individual scores being :— Sandham 4, Jupp 14, Woolley 10, Mann 4, Mead 97, Fender 96, Kennedy 7, Brown 19, Gilligan 8, Carr 24, Russell 22; extras, 6. Bowling : Buys took five for 121, Benison three for 50. Western Provinces, in ' their second innings, lost four wickets for 110—Commeille 40. Ptt Hands 37. (The finish of this innings has not been transmitted.) England, in the second innings, lost five wickets for 91.
Because of the missing section it is impossible to say what v/as the result of this match, but it seems likely that the home team's second innings closed for 953, and that Mann's team knocked off the 91 runs required to win, with the Jobs of five wickets.
